  4.        This file outlines the version, general notes, system 
  5.        requirements, installation instructions, known problems 
  6.        with workarounds, and known problems without workarounds.

  14.      GENERAL NOTES:

  16.        Shockwave for Director is a Director 4.0.4 
  17.        compatible Macintosh playback application. 
  18.        This is the  first shipping version and has 
  19.        been renamed from 1.0 to 4.0 due to its 
  20.        support of Director 4.0.4 movies.

  31.      SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

  44.      INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

  46.        - Drag the file "NP-Mac68K-Dir-Shockwave" into the Netscape 
  47.          "Plug-ins" folder.

  50.      KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH WORKAROUNDS:
  51.      
  52.        - Out of Memory Errors (5 or -108).
  53.          Workaround: Increase Netscape's application memory to 8000 Kb.
  54.          Restart Netscape.
  55.        - General redraw/refresh problems.
  56.          Workaround: Select Reload from the buttonbar or View menu.
  57.        - Movies using shared.dir may crash.
  58.          Workaround: Don't play movies with shared.dir in the same
  59.          folder.
  60.        - Changing the color depth or screen resolution while a movie
  61.          is playing will cause the movie to draw incorrectly.
  62.          Workaround: Select Reload from the buttonbar or View menu.
  63.        - KeyUp lingo commands will not work.
  64.          Workaround: Use keyDown.
  65.        - If the Disk Cache is set to 0 Kb, movies will not play.
  66.          Workaround: Increase Netscape's Disk Cache to 5000 Kb.
  67.        - A broken icon appears indicating the movie cannot be loaded.
  68.          Workaround: Select Reload from the buttonbar or View menu.
  69.          Also, ensure the web server MIME-type is:

  72.        - Keyboard or mouse selections do not seem to work outside
  73.          the movie area.
  74.          Workaround: Ensure repeat loops do not execute for more than
  75.          1 second because the user will be unable to interact with the
  76.          browser during Lingo loops.  Loop by moving between frames 
  77.          instead.

  80.      KNOWN PROBLEMS WITHOUT WORKAROUNDS:
  81.      
  82.        - Transitions. Cover, push, reveal and wipe transitions may 
  83.          display redraw problems on the stage.  Dissolve transitions 
  84.          will appear as dissolve pattern.
  85.        - NetLingo commands.  PreloadNetThing may not work in 
  86.          conjunction with gotoNetMovie and gotoNetPage.  For best 
  87.          results, set the Cache Preference to "Check Documents 
  88.          Once Per Session".  To set the Cache Preference, select 
  89.          Network Preferences from the Options menu.
  90.        - Multiple movies on a page may not work as expected.
  91.        - Tables.  Movies embedded in tables may crash.
  92.        - General issues.  Avoid using Virtual Memory.  Avoid 
  93.          using Speed Doubler.  Open Transport users should install
  94.          version 1.1b10 or greater.
